Notes-Semi-metallic element of the sulfur group. Its main value as a colorant depends on a reduction or mildly oxidizing atmosphere to maintain its metallic state.
-With cobalt it is a good decolorizer for glass because it produces a pink which is close to complementary of iron green (thus canceling it out).
-Used as a colorant in making rose and ruby glass.
-Used in some special purpose stains.
